Scripture Reflection - God went before them to lead the way, to guide them, in a pillar of cloud by day AND by a pillar of fire to give them light at night, to see at night. This was how God showed himself to them in a somewhat tangible way. He was there the whole time leading them. They needed to have a guide in this unfamiliar land they were traveling. By night, they were given light so they could continue traveling. God’s presence was there with them, every where they went, allowing them to see day or night. He led them all the time, twenty-four hours a day.
Current Reflection – Pillar, an interesting choice of a word. A column is the most traditional definition. Another definition is, a supporter, that which sustains or upholds.
God is always with us, He is our support. It is a comfort to know He will be with us day and night, night and day. Here begins the TRUST we have to start taking with God in our lives. He will never leave us, never forsake us. Trusting God is with us on the journey walking along our side.
In addition, we have the Bible. Under the New Testament this is a tangible guide from God to help us on our journey. The Bible can give us assurance and direction that we are doing the next right thing on our journey.
Personal Reflection – I have to imagine God walking with me, holding His hand. This visual image gives me the courage and strength to handle many situations that comes my way on my journey. Day & night trust must be my focus. Knowing God is leading and guiding me twenty-four hours a day. I then feel safe and can trust that everything is good.
