We ask for so many things through the day, from a large miracle type of prayer to a small little request. On days I go for a walk I like to ask God to be with me and show me the beauty he created and allow me to see through his eyes the simple miracles all around me.
One day as I said my prayer before my walk this little phrase that was rhythmic came to me. See. Enjoy. Be. Do. In my head there was a pretty neat little tune with the words – See. Enjoy. Be. Do. - See. Enjoy. Be. Do. - See. Enjoy. Be. Do.
As I walked it replayed many times in my head. Then I dissected the phrase word by word.
See – see what I’m showing you right in front of your eyes.
Enjoy – enjoy all the surroundings I am giving you.
Be – be here with me in the moment of this day.
Do – do the next thing I give you to do.
What a concept!!!
See what’s in front of me? Hmm – I’m usually looking around the entire area – not just seeing what’s in front of me – I’m seeing EVERYTHING! Too much of everything – not able to see the thing right in front of me.
Enjoy all the surroundings? How can I do that when I’m ‘seeing’ more them what’s in front of me? Slowing down, taking deep breaths and just getting into the moment I can begin to enjoy what’s around me.
Be in the moment with God and just BE. Yikes! Too deep for me at times, but if I can concentrate and keep it simple I can do it. Just enjoy God and me, just BEING!
Do the next thing that is in front of me. I do too much! Doing is something I’m good at. But this doing is just to DO the simple, one thing in front of me.
These are not easy for me to accomplish. How about you?
God challenged me with this simple little rhythmic phrase to allow me to think of each simple, short word. See. Enjoy. Be. Do. Now I challenge you.
Psalm 4:3Contemporary English Version (CEV) 3 The Lord has chosen everyone who is faithful to be his very own, and he answers my prayers.
