Scripture Reflection - God is questioning why the Israelites are crying out? God’s hand has been on them the entire journey. He does not understand the reason for the complaining. He is simply saying, ‘stop sniffling and move on’.
Current Reflection - The crying, whining and complaining comes because we think we can’t, we’re too full of fear and it’s just too hard. We are fearful of what the unknown will bring so we would rather do nothing and stay the same. God is like a stern parent when a child doesn’t want to do something that is difficult, he says, ‘move on’. No sympathy. Tough love, this is what we need. Someone to tell us, stop whining and just move on!
Personal Reflection – I can get into whining, complaining and feeling sorry for myself. When I do this it just prolongs the issue that I’m fearful of or don’t want to deal with. I can’t see that God is working in the situation. I’m blinded by the unknown fear and not knowing the course of the journey. I feel weak and powerless and have a hard time being still.
Frustrated and feeling hopeless I cry out and God once again comes to me with his instructions – MOVE ON! Not what I wanted to hear. Yet, with some years of wisdom being gained I can step back, collect myself and self centered thoughts and Move On!
